Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 50 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. General situation: Pressure is still rather low to the east and especially near East Cape, it is high in the south and is rising rapidly over the Dominion generally with the advance of an intense anti-cyclone from the Tasman Sea; over eastern Australia pressure is falling slightly. Forecast: Strong southerly winds reaching gale force in places. Weather still changeable with passing showers and hail in places but soon improving. Temperatures cold with a few frosts inland.
