CLEARING SALE
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on a clearing sale held at Putara yesterday. There was a fair attendance and the sheep and cattle came forward looking particularly well. The breeding ewes met with keen competition, the 6-th., 4 and 5-yr. ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, making 35s 3d, and the 2, 4 and 6-th. ewes, r.w. Romney rams, 375, while the ewe lambs made 255.
The dairy cows made from £4 10s to £7 10s, which included several unsound cows. Two-year heifers, r.w.b., £8; weaner heifers, £2 10s to £3; 18mos. empty heifers, £4; 18-mos. steers, £5; Jersey bull, £3; and numerous sundries made late rates.
