INTER-CLUB GOLF MATCH.
(“Times-Age” Special.)
The annual inter-club match with the Wainui-o-ru Club (Stronvar) was played on the local links over the weekend in fine but threatening weather. The local team again proved too good for the visiting team and won the match by 5 games.
In the men’s fourball the visitors won 3 games, lost 2 games and 2 games were halved. In the ladies’ fourball the local ladies won all four games.
In the men’s singles Stronvar won 5 games, lost 7 games, and 2 were all square.

Men’s fourball: A. Wyeth and G. Elliott lost to E. Nitz and S. Gray; A. Wardell and J. Hirshberg halved with M. Paku and W. Kummer; J. Armstrong and H. Nitz halved with N. Foreman and C. Schofield; M. McKenna and J. Broad beat B. F. Schofield and F. McKinstry; W. Gordon and F. Burling beat A. McGregor and H. Winter; D. Wilson and J. Bartholomew lost to F. Cotter and P. Kummer; J. Hall and H. Summers beat R. Vennell and F. Cotter, Junr. Ladies’ fourball: Mrs J. Broad and Mrs A. Wyeth lost to Mrs Nitz and Miss Lucas; Mrs Burling and Mrs Paku lost to Mrs Foreman and Mrs Schofield; Miss Chalmers and Mrs Elliott lost to Mrs Read and Mrs A. McGregor, after a series of four wins in succession, succumbed to a challenge from P. Kummer by 3 and 2. WOMEN’S DIVISION DANCE. All those interested in the activities of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union will be interested to know that the annual dance, the proceeds of which go to make a grant towards the housekeeping branch of the scheme, from this district, will be held in the local hall on Saturday, 25th inst. A strong committee of ladies have all arrangements well in hand and the prospects for the success of this popular function seem to be very bright.
