FARM FENCING

ADVANTAGES OF CONCRETE.

MORE PERMANENT POSTS.

In this era of scientific farming and with the advent of smaller fields for rotational grazing, more and more attention is being devoted to farm fencing. The first thing the farmer obviously looks for in fencing is permanence, and this is probably the reason why the concrete post is becoming popular on well-managed farms . There are some who are inclined to be a little sceptical in regard to anything new, but the concrete post has more than proved its value for farm fencing. As cheap in price as wooden posts and as light as the best wooden posts, the concrete post spells more economical and more satisfactory fencing for the farmer. Apart from its permanence, the concrete post cannot be affected by fire, while another advantage is the fact that the stapling will be of a permanent nature for the- staples will not work loose as in other posts. The modern concrete post is fitted with an adequate foot, which makes it impossible for the post to be shifted, whereas the wooden foot will in time rot away. While the wooden post depreciates from the day it is put in the ground, the concrete post will increase in hardness.

The reinforcement to be found in the modern concrete post is particularly strong for the post is constructed on the same principle as the concrete bridge and the latter is well known as the last word in permanence.
