ALFREDTON
RIFLE CLUB BALL (“Times-Age” Special) The Alfredton Rifle Club’s ball on Wednesday night was a brilliant success. The large attendance included visitors from all over the Wairarapa. The hall was most effectively decorated with lycopodium, artificially tinted leaves and spiked multi-coloured hollyhocks and mirrors draped with tinted leaves and hollyhocks covered the walls. The whole scheme was highly attractive. The supper room was bright with late autumn flowers and berries, the decorations setting off the bountiful supper provided. The State Dance Band supplied splendid music and extras were played by Messrs K. Marenzi and Liardet.
During the evening the trophies were presented by the patron, Mr C. Kebbell, who specially congratulated Rfmn. H. Percy on-his win at the Patea Rifle Association meeting, as follow: Club Championship, Edmonds Cup to H. Percy. Handicap Aggregate, Marie Kebbell rose .bowl to C. Morrison. Codinagh Handicap Shield to L. Duckett. Mouatt Handicap Cup to D. Johansen. Abel B. Grade Cup to R. Algie. Service Championship, Greathead Cup to A. Edmonds.
Trophies were presented as follow: Mr C. Kebbell’s trophy to C. Morrison, Mr A. Edmonds’ to A. Weston, Mr A. H. Herbert’s to A. Edmonds, Mr F. Percy’s to H. Percy, Mr H. K. Smith’s to C. Morrison, Mr L. Percy’s to C. Morrison, Mr H. Kebbell’s to H. Seymour, Mr H. Leach’s to L. Duckett, Mr C. Kebbell’s (3) to H. Leach, H. Duckett, L. Duckett, Mr O. Bicknell’s to R. Algie, Mr C. Morrison’s to L. Duckett, Mr R. W. Kebbell’s to D. Johansen, Mr J. Bradbury’s to C. Morrison, Mr R. W. Kebbell’s to L. Duckett. Ladies trophies to Mrs H. Percy and Mrs A. Napier.
