KING’S BIRTHDAY
CELEBRATIONS IN ENGLAND
RUGBY, June 9.
Warships were dressed overall at Portsmouth today in honour of the King’s Birthday. Salutes were fired by the Navy, Army and Air Force, which took part in ceremonial parades, concluding with a fly-past of twelve aircraft and three flying-boats..
U.S.A. MESSAGE PRESIDENT SENDS GOOD WISHES WASHINGTON. June 9. President Roosevelt has sent the following cable to the King:— • “On the occasion of the celebration of Your Majesty's birthday, please accept my sincerest good wishes fox - your personal health and happiness and for the continued well-being of your people.” THE DAY IN SAMOA APIA. June 10. The King’s birthday celebrations were held yesterday. The ceremony at. the Administration Buildings in the morning was well attended by Europeans and Samoans. Addresses were given by the ActingAdministrator. Mi - A. C. Turnbull, the High Chief Tamasese and the Hon T. H. Carruthers. M.L.C. School sports were held on the racecourse in the afternoon and a ball at Government House in the evening. HIS MAJESTY’S THANKS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. This Day. His Excellency, the Governor-Gen-eral (Viscount Galway) has received the following telegram from his Majesty the King: “I shall be glad if you will convey to the Government and people of New Zealand my cordial thanks for their loyal message and good wishes on the celebration of my birthday."
