LEAGUE TEAM
FIRST MATCH IN SYDNEY TODAY. PLAYERS ALL VERY FIT. SYDNEY, June 10. The New Zealand Rugby League team has indulged in solid practice since its arrival, and, although several players have suffered slight soreness on account of the hard grounds, they are now all very fit. The players are resting for tomorrow’s game against New South Wales. The team w.ill be: Smith. Brown. Kay, Chase, Hemi, Tittleton, Bunny, Brimble, Tetley, Broderick, Gault, McNeight. Herring and Satherley. During the week the managers, Messrs J. A. Redwood and W. O. Carlaw, and the captain and vice-captain, were the guests of the executive members of the New South Wales Country League’s Club at dinner. The possibility of a New South Wales country team touring New Zealand was discussed. The New Zealand managers made it clear that should the tour eventuate it would be expected that the team play at least two matches in the South Island and two in the North Island outside Auckland. While the Country League’s president agreed with this proposal, he expressed the opinion that in view of the proposed extended itinerary, his association should be guaranteed against too great a financial loss.
