CAR STRIKES TRUCK

ACCIDENT NEAR PAHIATUA FOUR PERSONS INJURED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, This Day. While travelling to Pahiatua last night, a sedan car, owned by Mr D. Mabey, and driven by the latter’s son, Dave Mabey, crashed into a stationary truck, parked on the roadside at Konini, a few miles south of the town.

It is understood that a /car was approaching from the opposite direction, and the Mabey, blinded by its lights, did not see the truck till he was almost on top of it. He then made a vain effort to avoid it. The front of the car ran under the truck on an angle, being struck on the edge of the wind-screen, which was shattered. In addition all the windows on the left side of the car body were knocked out of alignment.

Four persons travelling in the car received extensive cuts, one small boy requiring some twenty stitches in his head and face. Another passenger was knocked unconscious, but later recover.

The car went into a drain on the side of the road. The truck was knocked into a drain on the other side of the road.

After receiving some doctoring, the passengers were able to go home. This makes four accidents within four days in' the Pahiatua district.
