MORE BURGLARIES

ACTIVITIES IN MASTERTON AND CLAREVILLE LITTLE BOOTY SECURED A further series of burglaries occurred in Masterton last night, when several places were broken into, besides the Post Office at Clareville. Very little appears to have been stolen. The oil company offices near the railway in Renall Street, which have previously received the attention of burglars, were again broken into last night. Although the offices apparently were systematically searched, as far as can be ascertained nothing is missing. A storeroom at the back of Robbs’ Cash Stores, on the opposite side of the road, was also forced open, and a bag of sugar and a quanity of cigarettes were stolen.

The Clareville Post Office, a sipall building near the racecourse, was broken into by forcing open the door with a jemmy, but here again little was secured, Is 6d change belonging to a customer, being all the booty. A visit was paid on Thursday night to Lyttle’s garage, an entry being made by means of a back window. Only 4Jd could be found. In all cases the places broken into have been searched carefully, much on the lines of other burglaries reported recently in Masterton. No attempts have been made in the most recent series of burglaries to break open strong rooms or safes.
