Day’s Work of Radio Phone.

New Zealand telephone subscribers generally realise that their opportunities are not confined to the Dominion network of wires. How they utilise the radio link to other countries’ telephone systems as an everyday occurrence can be illustrated by a recent day’s log of this service. Calls outward were: Wellington-Sydney; On-garue-Brisbane; Auckland-London; Christchurch-Melbourne, and Auck-land-Melbournre. Inward business comprised: Sydney - Christchurch (three conversations); Sydney-Wel-lington; Melbourne - Christchurch (three conversations); Sydney-Wel-lington (two); Melbourne-Oamaru, and Sydney-Palmerston North. Official checks on the radio circuit for each conversation indicated good conditions in every case, although, in some instances, there were short intervals of time not included in the chargeable period because, in the opinion of the official observers at Wellington and Sydney, there were minor interruptions to the easy flow of conversation across the world.
