KNOX LADIES’ GUILD
SOCIAL AFTERNOON A very successful social afternoon was held on Wednesday when the members of Knox Ladies’ Guild met at the residence of Mrs J. Gray, College Street, Mrs G. W. Morice presided. A letter was received from the W.T.A. inviting members to be present at a meeting to be held next month, and to be addressed by Miss Elsie Andrews.
The secretary was instructed to write letters of congratulations to Mrs McConnell on her marriage, and to Mrs Reynolds on the occasion of her 100th birthday. A letter is to be sent to Mrs Henderson expressing the Guild’s sympathy with her in her recent accident.
A request was received from the Dramatic Society asking permission to use the Guild crockery. The request was granted. Mrs Ractliffe offered to be responsible for the Bring and Buy Stall at the next meeting. Mrs Welch offered to place flowers in the church for July. A welcome was extended to two new members, Mesdames, Esau and Tamblyn. At the conclusion of the business Miss Iqrns gave a very interesting description of her trip abroad to England and America.
During the afternoon Miss L. McGregor conducted a stall at which a very satisfactory sum was realized.
Mrs R. Miller contributed two recitations which were very much enjoyed.
After afternoon tea had been served Mrs G. W. Morice moved a very cordial vote of thanks to the hostesses. Mrs Gray and Miss'Guild and to Mrs Miller and Miss lorns, which was carried by acclamation:
