INDIAN HOCKEY PLAYERS
PRACTICE AT MASTERTON. ADDRESS TO COLLEGE PUPILS. Glimpses of the speed, stick-work and combination that their opponents in various parts of New Zealand will have to contend with were given by members of the Prince of Mandavar’s Indian hockey team in a practice game at Wairarapa College yesterday afternoon. Several members of the College junior men's team took part in the game. At the conclusion of the practice, the tourists were beseiged by juvenile autograph hunters, while other enjoyed a game of “knock-about” Rugby on an adjacent, field. Prior to the practice, the visitors were shown around the College by the headmaster, Mr G. G. Hancox, The team manager, Professor Jagan Nath, in an address to the pupils, expressed admiration of the wonderful facilities offered' at the College. “If our schools were as fine as this one I would never have left school,” he said. The manager emphasised the brotherhood which existed between India and the other’ countries of the British Commonwealth.
