DENTAL CLINIC
RESPONSE TO RECENT APPEAL RESPONSIBILITY OF PARENTS The response to the Masterton Dental Clinic’s appeal for the payment of arrears and current dues has been a little better than was the case last year. Since the appeal was made a sum of £46 has been received out of a total amount outstanding of £3OO.
Reporting to a meeting of the Dental Clinic Committee held last night, over which the chairman, Mr Alex Donald presided, the secretary, Mr W V. Madden stated that the following amounts had been received from the three Masterton schools: Central. £lB 7s 6d, out of £152 10s; West, £2l 12s 6d. out of £9B 12s; Lansdowne, £6 ss, out of £49 Ils.
The committee again urged parents to keep in mind the payment of dues to the clinic. A letter was received from Mr E. G. Coddington, headmaster of the Central school, in regard to ways and means of raising funds for the clinic. The secretary was instructed to reply stating that the committee was of the opinion that the parents should meet their own personal responsibilities, and further, that if any special scheme were adopted for the raising of funds that it would definitely be for the purpose of securing funds for building. The nurse reported that during May, patients had been treated from the Central, Te Ore Ore, Solway, Masterton West, West Side, Taratahi West, Mangapakeha and Whareama schools. The total number of operations performed was 358.
Mr Donald reported on the result of a deputation to the Trust Lands Trust and extended a welcome to Mr W. A. Clarke, representing the West School, and. to Mr J. McDonald, Te Ore Ore School.
