HEAVY DEFEAT SUFFERED IN SASKATCHEWAN. SETBACK FOR ABERHART CABINET. (Recd This Day, 9.15 a.m.) REGINA, June 9. The effort of the Premier of Alberta, the Hon W. Aberhart, to extend social credit to Saskatchewan was routed by the Patterson Liberal Government, which has retained office by a majority of twenty-one. The election results are: —Liberals. 33; Commonwealth Federation, 8; Social Credit, 2; Independents. 2. • The entire Alberta Cabinet entered the campaign, proclaiming that a victory in Saskatchewan was the first step towards securing Dominion control at Ottawa. They based their appeal on the disallowed Alberta efforts to assume full control of banks and other financial institutions.
