Mrs G. Hoggard, of Mako Mako, is on a holiday visit to Wellington. Mrs E. Staniforth has returned to Masterton after a holiday spent in Napier.

Miss Wilkin, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs Frank Wilkin, of Mauriceville.

Mrs M. A. Robertson, of Pahiatua, has returned after a tour of the North Island.

Miss L. Boddington, Masterton, who has been visiting Cambridge, has left for Auckland. Mrs S. Ronaldson, who has been on a visit to Masterton, has returned to her home at Pio Pio.

The marriage took place at the Methodist Church, Carterton, recently, of Mr Thos W. F. Vose, of Carterton, and Mrs E. E. Goodhue, of Masterton. Miss Nan Kemble Welch, Karori, and formerly of Masterton, who, for the past six months, has been the guest of Dr and Mrs C. Marshall Day, Lahore, India, sailed for England by the Strathaird on May 7. At St John’s Church, Dannevirke, on Saturday evening, Joan Burgoyne, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr J. H. Morrison, of Makotuku, was married to Leonard Bruce, only son of Mr and Mrs L. Ballantyne, of Pongaroa. Misses Anne Blakiston, Dannevirke, and Beth Chadwick, Ormondville, were bridesmaids, and Diana Bailey and Beatrice Moore, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Mr Hugh Robinson, of Hatuma, was the best man, and Mr J. Johns, of Christchurch, groomsman.

Miss Barbara Baird, whose marriage is to take place shortly, has been the guest-of-honour at many pleasant parties given by her friends at Masterton. On Wednesday, Mrs S. J. Gill and her daughters, Helen and Patricia, gave a delightful five-to-seven sherry party at their residence, 120 Cole Street, in honour of the bride-to-be. There were more than a hundred guests present, and all enjoyed the pleasant informality of the occasion. The drawing-room, dining-room and hall were used,' and were gay with early bulbs and chrysanthemums. Mrs Gill wore navy georgette with a silver stripe. Miss Helen Gill was in a clover-coloured frock with petrel-blue sash and facings, and Miss Patricia Gill wore navy georgette relieved with white. Miss Barbara Baird was wearing a pretty frock of navy cloque, and her mother, Mrs D. Baird, was in navy and white foulard. The guests later went to a dance at Gladstone.
