WRESTLING
A DRAWN BOUT BLOMFIELD AND MOEN (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 9. After eight rounds of fairly insipid wrestling, relieved by rallies of jolts, Lofty Blomfield, New Zealand champion, and Andy Moen, U.SA., drew at Palmerston North tonight before a packed house. There was a good deal of hair pulling and a. few illegal rope tactics, with occasional flashes of real wrestling but on the whole the matmen gave the impression of being too wary of each other. Blomfield tried unsuccessfully several times for his octopus clamp, but never got far enough to secure the hold properly. Amateur preliminaries resulted as follows: —Lightweight: J. Eckersley (Palmerston North), 9.6, beat G. Anderson (Palmerston North), 10.2, by two falls to nil. Heavyweight: R. Woods (Shannon), 13.0, beat G. Blackburn (Palmerston North), 13.10, by two falls to nil. Light-heavyweight: W. R. Murrel (Palmerston North), 12.0, beat J. Beaumont (Palmerston North), 12.0, on points. Middleweight: W. Cudby (Palmerston North), 11.10, beat R. Sutherland (Masterton), 11.4, on'points.
