SHEEP WORRYING
A MYSTERY SOLVED THAR SHOT IN THE ACT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, June 8. Mysterious sheep worrying that has been occurring on Mr Alex Thomson’s run in the Ward district was solved yesterday when an employee shot a large buck thar which was discovered in the act of attacking a mob of 40 sheep which it had rounded up. The animal was seen to repeatedly charge the sheep, ripping its victims with its sharp curved horns.
So intent was the thar on its furious attacks that it was easily stalked and shot. Pieces of skin, wool and entrails of the sheep were found on its horns. One sheep had been killed and others severely injured, their wounds being similar to purictures noted on other victims of a previously inexplicable attack.
Several years ago a stray thar was shot near the road between Blenheim and Picton. These are the only thar ever reported in Marlborough.
