THREAT TO CASTELLON
— 9 DRIVE BY SPANISH REBELS LOYALIST FORCE REPORTED TRAPPED RUMOURS OF UNREST DENIED SARAGOSSA, June 8. After a whirlwind drive along a 25mile front, the insurgents are scarcely 15 miles from Castellon. They advanced more than five miles in 24 hours.
A large contingent of loyalists is reported to be trapped with their backs to the sea.
General Franco’s headquarters vigorously deny the Gibraltar rumours of unrest, which are attributed to Red propaganda. They also denied that. General de Llano is disgraced. A Barcelona message states that 54 Italian, 46 German, and 44 Spanish airmen have been captured since the outbreak of war. TOWN BOMBED FORTY KILLED AND SIXTY INJURED (Recd This Day, 10 a.m.) BARCELONA, June 8. Forty persons were killed and sixty injured in an insurgent air raid on the frontier town of Figueras.
