CONTESTS END ABRUPTLY tßy Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, June 8. Two professional middleweight contests staged by the Southland Boxing Association tonight ended abruptly. In the first Barney Downs (Wellington), 10.10, knocked out Wally Jack (Invercargill), 10.10, in the sixth round after an impressive showing. The second bout was between Cliff Hanham (Waimate), 11.10, who was fighting as a professional for the first time, and George McKay (Tuatapere), 11.5, ‘Hanham winning on a technical knock-out-in the second round.
