HUNTER’S DEATH
KILLED BY HIS 517TH ELEPHANT ANIMAL DEFIES FOURTEEN . BULLETS (Recd This Day, 9.10 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, June 8. An elephant killed an Australian hunter, Charles Ross, employed by the Northern Rhodesian Government elephant patrol. In the course of his duties Ross killed 516 elephants. He put fourteen bullets into the 517th animal, which, being merely enraged, charged and trampled on Ross.
