INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM
ARRIVING IN MASTERTON THIS EVENING.
MATCH AT MEMORIAL PARK ON SATURDAY.
Great interest is centred on the visit to Masterton of the Prince of Manavadar’s Indian hockey team, which is to play a Wairarapa representative team at Memorial Park on Saturday. Hockey, as it’ is played by the Indians, is one of the fastest ball games known and there should be plenty of thrills for the spectators on Saturday. The team will arrive by rail-car this evening and will be welcomed by officials of the Wairarapa Hockey Association. Tomorrow afternoon the team will probably practice at Wairarapa College where it is hoped some instruction will be given to the
pupils. Following the match on Saturday afternoon, the team will be entertained at tea at an official gathering, and in the evening will attend a theatre in Masterton.
On Sunday afternoon they will be the guests of Mr and Mrs W. H. Booth, “Middle Run,” where they will be entertained at afternoon tea. The team will leave on Monday for Pahiatua, where they will play a Bush representative team on Tuesday. On the following day the, team will meet Manawatu at Palmerston North. A full afternoon’s sport will be provided on Saturday at Memorial Park. Preceding the main attraction, there will be a match between Wairarapa and Ruahine (Dannevirke) women’s teams.
