Impressed by Canton's death-roll, Marshal Chiang Kai-shek has promised to strengthen the defences. This apparently comes in the nick of time, in view of a reported break between the Cantonese Government and Marshal Chiang Kai-shek, owing to resentment regarding his supposed failure to assist Canton.
