CARTERTON
NATIONAL PARTY DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The National Party dance held last night in the State Ballroom, Carterton, was an outstanding success. There was a very large attendance, visitors being present from all parts of the Wairarapa and also several parties from Wellington. Among those present were Messrs J. F. Thompson and J. H. Irving, National Party candidates for Wairarapa and Masterton, respectively. Mesdames Thompson and Irving, Mr Justin Power, Divisional Secretary of the National Party, and Mr and Mrs J. Maher and family, of Upper Hutt. The duties of M’s.C. were capably carried out by Messrs V. J. Ashton and J. Manley, while Mr T. Udy, and the ladies' committee provided a most enjoyable supper. PERSONALS. Messrs E. Wilson and B. East, of Wellington, were visitors to Carterton for the King’s Birthday. Miss E. Thornton, of Wellington, spent the weekend in Carterton as the guest of her sister, Mrs N. R. Armstrong. Miss E. Ingley, of Carterton, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs Weatherstone, “Rotopai,” Lower Valley, has returned home. HILL AND HUGHES GOLF CUP. R. Harrington with a handicap of 18 and an aggregate score of 78, won the Hill & Hughes Cup stableford competition over two days, concluded on the Taratahi links on Saturday.
