THE NAVAL DIVISION
ARRIVAL OF COMMODORE H. E. HORAN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 6. Commodore H. E. Horan, D.S.C., who has been appointed First Naval Member of the Naval Board and Chief of the Naval Staff in New Zealand, arrived by the Remttera from London. His duties will necessitate his remaining in Wellington to maintain close personal contact with the Government, so control of the seagoing division has been vested in Cbmmodore Glennie, late flag-captain of H.M.S. Achilles. Broad-shouldered and pleasantly spoken, Commodore Horan expressed on arrival his pleasure at coming to the Dominion, which he had not previously visited. He said his wife and daughter would arrive by the Rangitikei. Rear-Admiral the Hon E. R. Drummon, the present commodore commanding the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, and Commodore Horan will leave for Wellington tomorrow. The transfer of commands will tatce place on Wednesday. Prior to this appoiritment, Commodore Horan was commanding officer of the battleship Barham in the Mediterranean Fleet.
