MISSION PROPERTY

RETURNED BY JAPANESE RESPONSE TO AMERICAN DEMAND. WASHINGTON, June 3. The State Department has officially stated that the Japanese Government has acceded to at least some of the demands made in the American protest of June 1 concerning the obstruction of foreign nationals resuming their property in occupied areas. The Japanese Government has formally returned certain property belonging to American missions.

Japan has restored to their owners the American mission station at Chapei, but not the university nor the American business properties as was promised. Permission has also been granted to four British missionaries to return to Nanking.
