BRITISH ENGINEERS TO HELP SPAIN GERMAN MACHINE-GUN BELT EXHIBITED. CAPTURED FROM FRANCO’S FORCES. (Recd This Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, June 3. After the president of the Amalgamated Engineers’ Union had dramatically produced a belt of German machine-gun cartridges captured from General Franco’s forces, the conference decided upon a voluntary levy, to supply motor lorries to the Spanish Government.

Members were invited to contribute a shilling a month in order to raise £50,000. All the tickets were sold.
