“RAILWAYS MAGAZINE”

FEATURES OF LAST ISSUE. The latest issue of the Railways’ Magazine worthily upholds the high reputation this journal has achieved in recent years. A reproduction of an original water colour by P. Bousfickl. of Mount Egmont, provides a particularly bright and beautiful cover. Among the many articles of more than usual interest is a continuation of an account by Dr E. P. Neale of “The Heyday of Railway Construction in New Zealand.” illustrated by types of two of the first engines used in this country. Other items of appeal are “The Charm of Wairoa,” by “Will Wandafar”; “Rovers of the Brig Bee.” the story of a lawless cruise in the Pacific by James Cowan; “The Marvels of Mathematics," by O. N. Gillespie, and an announcement by the Hon D. G. Sullivan. Minister of Railways, concerning a new station for Christchurch. The issue is well illustrated throughout.
