LONDON QUOTATIONS. LAMB PRICES VERY FIRM. Lamb market: Demand has improved and prices very firm with heavyweights higher. Mutton market: Wethers, firmer, especially for heavyweights; ewes, trade slow with weaker tendency. Beef market: Chilled beef, better prices this week owing to good trade and moderate supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Lightweights firmer on the short supplies. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. The above report was received yesterday from London by the Meat Board, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday, June 2. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week on which this list was issued. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Prices for the previous week are shown in parentheses:— New Zealand Sheep: Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes: 481 b and under, 5 7-8 d (5 7-8 d); 491 b to 561 b 5Jd (5Jd); 571 b to 641 b, 5 l-8d (sd); 651 b to 721 b, 5d.(4 7-8 d).
