NEW ZEALAND BEEF
SHIPMENTS TO UNITED KINGDOM HIGHEST ON RECORD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Quantities of New Zealand beef to arrive in the United Kingdom for the third quarter of this year will be the highest on record for that quarter. This statement was made by the Minister of Marketing, Hon W. Nash, in an interview last evening. Mr Nash said the New Zealand Government’s policy was to expand exports wherever there was a need for more of our products and a reasonable return to producers could be secured. The Government had kept in close touch with the Dominion’s representatives in London who had secured after negotiation the right to land in the July-September quarter of 1938 maximum amounts of beef as follows: — Type ■of beef: Tons. Chilled 7,200 Frozen quarters 5,600 Boneless 6,200 Veal 1,400 Beef and veal offals .... 800 Total 21,200 Not only the total, but the individual ambunts also, especially of chilled beef, were very satisfactory, concluded Mr Nash.
