SHUNTING ACCIDENT
TRAIN EXAMINER KILLED IN CANTERBURY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Mr James S. Reid, a middle-aged man. employed as a train examiner at Springfield for the past 14 years, was killed last night wfien he was struck by a rake of trucks which were being shunted at Springfield Station. Mr Reid, who was a married man. with a family of four children, had been examining a train when he was struck by a rake of trucks being shunted nearby from another train.
