INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM
AN EASY VICTORY AT SYDNEY SYDNEY, June 2. The Indian hockey team easily defeated Metropolitan Manly at the Oval by six goals to one after leading 3-1 for a spell. The weather was bleak and gusty and incessant morning rain had made the "ground soft. Moreover tufty turf handicapped the Indians’ natural stick proficiency. The visitors were altogether too fast and nimble. The secret of their success was their splendid positional play. Their passes were invariably directed where they know their colleagues would be. By contrast the Metropolitan passes were directed where they hoped their team-mates would be.
The visitors seldom chased but often ran with the ball. The scorers were: Sultan Khan three, Feroze Khan, Ahmed Khan, Lajput Rai. For Metropolitan Davidson opened the scoring.
