AIR BATTLE OVER HANKOW

In an air battle over Hankow, the Chinese lost two out of fifty machines, but shot down fifteen of 54 Japanese planes. RAID LOSSES IN CANTON. (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) CANTON, May 31. Three days’ air raids have resulted in 1,400 persons being killed and 2,100 injured. An air raid killed a hundred people at Canton. SUCHOW BATTLE. JAPANESE ESTIMATE OF CHINESE CASUALTIES. \ _ (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) TOKIO, May 31. It is officially estimated that the Chinese lost 103,000 killed and 137,000 wounded in the battle for Suchow to May 24.
