Seven of the world’s leading amateur billiardists are competing in the Empire championships, which opened in the Town Hall here last night. The New Zealand representative is A. Albertson. The opening game was between the title-holder, Robert Marshall (Australia) and A. M. Burke (South Africa), the scores being: Marshall 862, including breaks of 115, 144 and 103 in play. Burke made 390, his best break being 83. The match will conclude tonight.
