A LIVELY DAY
FOR MIDDLESEX BATSMEN HONOURS GO TO McCORMICK. GAME ENDS ON SPORTING NOTE By Telegraph.—Press i Association, Copyright. (Recd This Day, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 31. The weather was cold and dull for the continuation of the cricket match between Australia and Middlesex. The wicket was drier but promised another lively day for the batsmen. O’REILLY PRETTY DEADLY. Compton and Human faced the difficult conditions cleverly. Human drove O’Reilly into the pavilion for 6. Nevertheless, O’Reilly was pretty deadly, though he bowled without luck. He shaved Human's wicket and finally shattered it. The pair' added 57 runs to the score. TWO GREAT SIXERS. Robins pulled O’Reilly for two great 6’s in consecutive overs. Compton was dropped at the wicket, off Waite, when he had scored 41. Robins batted brightly and got 12 off McCormick’s second over. He was finally dismissed, and the remainder of the side was soon finished off, with the honours to McCormick. The game ended on a sporting note, Bradman declaring to allow Edrich -to score the ten runs necessary to complete his 1000 runs in May. Edrich made 20 in twelve minutes. A TRICKY WICKET. Play was not resumed until 2.50 owing to rain and the wicket was tricky. Badcock was out in Novell's first over. Bradman began uncertainly, but Fingleton was quite confident and batted very well. Later Bradman became accustomed to the wicket. McCabe was in excellent form and batted brilliantly. The scores are as follow: — AUSTRALIA. First Innings 1 32 Second Innings.
