“TERRIBLE SHORTAGE”

CARTERTON’S NEED OF HOUSES. NONE EMPTY IN TWO YEARS. "There is a terrible shortage of houses in the town,” remarked Councillor W. A. Hart when suggesting at last night’s meeting of the Carterton Borough Council, that the council should consider the question of building houses for sale. The Mayor, Mr D. 1.. Taverner, pointed out that the Government was at present constructing seventeen houses in Carterton. From his experience, he had found that the supply and demand for houses was erratic. They would probably find that the Government houses would relieve the position. Councillor O. Wolters: “There has not been an empty house in Carterton in two years.”
