GUN CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) A. north-westerly gale marred*' conditions for the first shoot for the Kumenga Cup which took place at the Lake Ferry on Saturday. In the circumstances, some fine shooting was shown particularly Messrs T. Skipage (Lower Hutt), G. Sutherland (Pirinoa) and H. K. Smith (Masterton), who each obtained 18 birds out of a possible 21. The cup is to be competed for once a year and to become the property of one individual must be won two years in succession or three times at intervals. In the shoot off T. Skipage won, with Gordon Sutherland second. The winner also received a miniature cup. G. Sutherland wins a trophy. The following were the scores: —T. Skipage, 18yds., 18 birds; Gordon Sutherland, 15, 18; H. K. Smith, 14, 18; R. Buick, 23, 17; S. Hall, 13, 17; F. Brough, 11, 17; lan Sutherland, 11, 17; J. Prussing, 14, 16; H. Cundy, 11, 14; B. Brough, 11, 14; D. Fenwick, 12, 13; A. Warren, 14, 10. In the Brough Cup competition, R. Buick is practically assured of victory. GOLF COMPETITION. The following is the result of the first round played by the ladies in the Mrs Busch’s trophy:—Mrs Tikao, 114, 36, 78; Mrs Herangi, 117, 36, 81; Mrs Bragg, 113, 30, 83; Mrs Carter, 115, 28, 87; Mrs McKenzie, 129,-36, 93. Playing in the second round of the Campbell Cup on Saturday, B. McMaster registered a fine performance by returning a score of 35, which included a 7. This constitutes a record for the course by a member of the club, although it has been accomplished by such players as Hornabrook and T. Horton.

The following is the draw for the third - ’round to be played on Saturday: —B. McMaster v. S. Thomas; T. Hume v. J. Carter; W. Charters v. M. Waiwera; M. McLeod v. D. Jones; R. McDougall v. S. Hall; M. Herangi v. G. Munro; J. Riwai v. F. Lovegrove; R. Waiwera v. A. Warren; D. Tikao v. V. Saunders. On Monday a 36-hole bogey match will be played for the Sinclair Thompson Cup. The lady members will compete for this trophy in conjunction with the Mollie Hume Cup over 18 holes. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mrs Chayton, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs Thomas, has returned to her home at Taumarunui. Mr Brooking, Lower Hutt, has been visiting this district for a few days. Mrs Monck and her two sons, who have returned recently from a holiday in Australia, are staying with Mr and Mrs R. J. McClelland, Tauanui, before returning to their home at Gisborne. Miss Ransfield, who has been staying with Mrs Cowan, will return to Feilding tomorrow. Mrs M. Waiwera, who has been visiting relatives in Wanganui, has returned home.

Elder Campbell, who has been labouring in the Manawatu and Wairarapa districts, was tendered a social evening at Kohunui last evening prior to his departure for his home in America early next month. Mrs J. Phillips, Wellington, is visiting her daughter, Mrs A. Spicer.

Mr R. Hume and Mrs G. Hume were visitors to Wellington during the week.
