STILL AT LARGE

ESCAPEES FROM WAIKUNE PRISON.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI. May 30.

The two men from Waikune Prison who escaped yesterday afternoon were not apprehended today. They are Donald Dempsey Crook, aged 27, and Harold Ossie Feilding, aged 25. Parties of police were watching all the roads to Wanganui last night and today, and the search will be continued until the men are found.

Police parties are searching the country round Raurimu, Ohakune, and Taihape, but the district is very rough and it may be some time before the men are located. They escaped some time between 3.30 and 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The police were hindered in their search by rain, which reduced visibility.
