SAVAGE CRIME

KIDNAPPED BOV MURDERED

IN U.S.A.

BODY FOUND ON SEASHORE NEAR HOME

FRUITLESS ATTEMPTS MADE TO PAY RANSOM

By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. MONTREAL, May 29.

A message from New Rochelle says the body of the boy Peter Levine, after a three months’ hunt, following one of the United States’ major unsolved kidnappings, was found on the rocky seashore near his home. The torso was trussed by wire, and the head, feet and one arm were missing.

The boy’s father had made several fruitless attempts to get into contact with the kidnappers, and pay 60,000 dollars ransom.

Philip Levine, the 12-year-old son of a wealthy attorney, had been missing since February 24 and G-men confirmed the fact that he had been kidnapped. A message from New York on March 1 stated that in response to the father’s request, neither the local nor Federal authorities were participating in the case in order to permit an attempt to pay a ransom reported to be 60,000 dollars to obtain the boy’s release.

Mr Levine,, through the Press and the radio, pleaded with the kidnappers not to harm his son* He said the ransom was ready and named an intermediary. He urged the kidnappers to get into touch with him immediately. This is the United States’ fifth major kidnapping in which the victims were children. The others were the Lindbergh, Robles, Weyerhaeuser and Mattson cases.
