RESPONSIBILITY OF YOUTH. “The young are responsible for the three tyrants of Europe—Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin,” said Mr St. John Ervine. the dramatic critic, in a recent speech. “It was the young who cheered when Mussolini said that freedom was a fetish. It was the young who put Hitler in his present position and keep him there; it is the young everywhere who give the tyrants and the reactionaries their power; it is the young who yell out for war; it is the old and middle-aged who want peace. This appalling legend that is spreading over the world that only the young are generous and full of idealism must be dispelled if we are ever to get idealism and generosity back into world.”
