APPROACH OF WRINKLES

PREVENTIVE TREATMENT Facial massage, correctly carried out, restores the circulation and bring fresh nourishment to the underlying cells and tissues. It will increase the glandular activity and help keep the skin soft. As a preventive treatment against the approach of wrinkles, massage is excellent, but remember; that inexperienced massage can create relaxed muscles. Commence the treatment by thoroughly cleansing the skin with cream. Using a pad of cottonwool, dip it in cold water, wring it out, and then dip it in the cream and smooth over the face. Allow it to remain on the skin for a few minutes, and then remove with clean face tissues. Now smear a little muscle oil over the skin, then a little nourishing cream, and you are ready to carry out the massage. The chin muscle always requires plenty of attention, and it should be moulded in an upwards direction, so that any tendency to drop will be counteracted. This movement can be carried out by placing the back of the fingers of each hand together at the base of the thrdatline, and then gradually drawing them upwards and outwards under the jawbone. Then the nose-to-chin will require attention. This line is often very deep, and constant treatment will be needed so that the skin can be thoroughly moulded. This movement is carried out by placing the first and second finger of each hand over the centre of the mouth with the tips of the fingers touching the base of the nostrils. Then slowly draw the hands apart towards the ears. Try and acquire a gentle upwards pull during this movement. It is not difficult, but will require a little practice before you are proficient. Sit in front of a mirror and watch the movement and correct yourself the minute you are wrong. The delicate muscles around the mouth will also require moulding, and this is best accomplished by placing the ball of the second finger near the corner of the mouth and moving it with a firm circular motion. Although the movement is to be firm, at no time should you drag the skin. The fingers should be allowed to,slip quite easily. The forehead is another important place where wrinkles congregate. The movements here should be upwards away from the eyebrows and towards the hairline. The three fingers of each hand should be brought upwards across the lines, one hand closely following the other, so that a soothing manipulation is obtained.
