Miss K. Wells, Lower Hutt, is staying with Mr and Mrs John Wells, Masterton.

■ Miss Gaustad, Palmerston North, is staying with Mrs P. Wiltshire at Pongaroa.

Miss N. Flynn, assistant teacher at Ngaio, has been appointed to the Carterton School.

Mrs G. Eddie, of Makomako, has as visitors Misses Patricia Compton, and I. McLeod, of Hastings.

Mrs C. K. McLaren, of “Arohunui,” Hinakura, returned home yesterday after a holiday spent in Auckland. Mrs G. T. Smith, of Pongaroa, who was on a visit to her mother, Mrs R. Gray, Te Rahunga, has returned home.

Mr and Mrs G. R. Croll, Renall Street, Masterton, have left on an extended visit to Vancouver, San Francisco and Honolulu.

Mrs W. Burling, Mrs Madden and Miss Burling recently gave a very enjoyable party in honour of Miss Rita Gooding, who is to be married shortly. Mrs F. Hillas, of Pori, who has been an inm.ate of a private hospital at Palmerston North, has recovered sufficiently to be able to leave the institution. She is now on a visit to Rongotea.

At a meeting of the Wellington Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary, the resignation of Mrs J. C. Webb, as president, was received with regret. Mrs Webb has .officiated in executive capacity for more than ten years, having been hon secretary for eight years, and president for two years and a half. There was a large gathering of friends and visitors at the Kohinui Hall to farewell Mrs Piercey and Miss R. Piercey and to offer gifts and best wishes to Miss Piercey and Mr E. Hollis, who are to be married soon. After supper had been partaken of, Mr H. Cotter, on behalf of the Ngaturi and Kohinui residents, asked Mrs Piercey to accept an electric radiator, and Miss Rose Piercey to accept a camera. as tokens of esteem. Mr B. Draper, on behalf •of the Ngaturi School Committee, presented Mrs Piercey with an electric reading lamp and clock combined.
