QUIET IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA
SECOND DAY OF POLLING UNEVENTFUL Premier and Henlein Delegates Report Progress UNDERSTANDING FOR CONTINUANCE OF NEGOTIATIONS By Telegraph.—Press Association.— Copyright. (Reed This Day, 12.55 p.m.) LONDON, May 29. “The Times'' Prague correspondent says the second day of the elections was without incident except at Tisa, where before the polling Sudeten Germans clashed with German Social Democrats. In the resulting scuffle, a Sudetener was slightly wounded by a revolver bullet. Dr Hodza (Prime Minister) and members of the Henlein Party, after a discussion on "the most actual questions,’ announced that they had reached an understanding for the continuance of negotiations, which is the first time both sides have reported progress. BITTER TALK. GOEBBELLS TILTS AT ENGLAND AND FRANCE. SUGGESTS THAT PRAGUE BE CALLED TO ORDER. (Recd This Day, 12.55 p.m.) LONDON, May 29. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Berlin correspondent says resentment at England and France aroused in radical Nazi circles is illustrated in a violent speech in which Dr Goebbels (Propaganda Minister), after a reference to the attitude of certain Powers in the present crisis, said: “What are we to say about the Czechs’ continued aerial violation of the frontier? There are 75,000,000 Germans and 13.000,000 Czechoslovakians, but thfty act as though the position were reversed. England and France blame Germany for troop movements, but what about Czech troop movements? The peacemakers ought to be calling Prague to order instead of encouraging the Czechs in their obstinacy.”
