POLITICS FOR BRADMAN?
CRICKETER DENIES RUMOURS IN ENGLAND. LONDON, May 28. The cricket writer of the Australian Associated Press says that, as a result of Bradman's fluent topical speechmaking and his grip of current problems, rumours are current, especially in Foreign Office circles, that he contemplates entering politics. This he flatly denies, adding that the idea is not even at the back of his mind. A remark by Mr Menzies, Australian Attorney-General, who is now in London, that “if Bradman enters politics I hope he will come in on my side,” seems partially responsible for the suggestion. Bradman has met socially a number of Foreign Office officials, who were surprised at his interest in and quick comprehension of international affairs.
