EMPIRE DISPUTES
A CANADIAN SUGGESTION. DESIRE FOR BROAD-BASED TRIBUNAL. OTTAWA, May 28. In the House of Commons Mr Cahan agreed to the withdrawal of his Bill proposing the abolition of appeals to the Privy Council when the Attorney-General, Mr Lapointe, approved a suggestion of Mr R. B. Bennett, Leader of the Opposition, that a committee be set up to study the establishment of some Empire tribunal to settle disputes between British countries, including the United Kingdom. Its members would be drawn from every part of the Empire. Mr Lapointe pointed out, however, that the proposal had not been favourably received by two Imperial Conferences.
