ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE

RAID BY AUCKLAND POLICE FIFTY MEN ARRESTED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 29. Fifty men were arrested as the result of a police raid on premises in the city on Saturday night. The men were subsequently charged before a Justice of the Peace with gaming offences and were remanded on bail to appear in the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. Bail was fixed at £lOO in the case of Clarence William Russell, labourer, who was charged with having been the occupier of the premises and with having used them as a common gaming house. Walter Charles Absolum, slaughterman, and Bert Thomas, labourer, who were both charged with having assisted in the management of a common gaming house, were remanded on similar bail. In the case of others bail was fixed at varying amounts of £3 and £5.
