RAPID PROMOTION
NEW ZEALANDER SELECTED. After two years’ service in the Royal Air Force in England, in which time he has earned rapid promotion, Mr C. A. Turner, formerly of New Plymouth, has been selected from all the New Zealanders in England for the position of navigation and signal instructor in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. He is only 22 years of age. When Mr Turner left New Plymouth in August, 1935, he had an intensive knowledge of flying and of plane construction that stood him in good stead, and keenness and an aptitude for study saw him pass his examinations rapidly and earn quick promotion. He excelled in practically every examination and was unusually successful in gaining some of the highest navigation certificates obtainable. For some time he has been a navigational instructor with a machine equipped with special instruments. In recent displays, including the Coronation pageant, he was in charge of a squadron.
