■9 TASMAN AIR MAIL HITCH NEW ZEALAND NOT RAISING DIFFICULTIES. STATEMENT BY MR SAVAGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A denial that the New Zealand Government. had raised any difficulties in connection with the proposed Tasman air mail service was given last evening by the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage, when his attention was called to a Sydney cable message stating there had been a hitch in the negotiations for the establishment of the service. The message from Sydney was as follows: “The Canberra • correspondent of .the 'Sydney Morning Herald’ says that a hitch has occurred in the negotiations for the establishment of an airmail service across the Tasman. New Zealand, he states, has raised difficulties which will have to be settled by direct negotiation with the British Government before the discussions can be continued.”
“We have raised no difficulties,” declared Mr Savage. “Certain details have still to be discussed, but so far as we are concerned we are ready to carry out our obligations right away. We are ready to carry out our part of the responsibilities as soon as the others involved are.”
