POWER INTERRUPTIONS

POSITION IN THE WAIRARAPA IMPROVING. THE MENACCE FROM TREES. ("Times-Age” Special.) There were only 47 interruptions to power supply last year, stated the Engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan, at yesterday’s meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board. In 1929 there were 158 interruptions to the supply, which worked out at one interruption for every 2.7 route miles of line as compared with one interruption last year for every 12 route miles. While only one interruption last year was caused by trees, Mr Keenan added, the tree menace was still with them. It was becoming increasingly difficult to deal with the problem and he considered that the time was arriving when the board should take over the whole control of the tree menace.
