COIFFURE HINTS
PARIS FASHIONS. Beautifully healthy, exquisitelydressed hair is the aim of every truly fashionable woman. Her makeup may be unexciting, her clothes a bit too much on the fussy side, but she usually will have a grand coiffure. Fringes are popular in Paris —whether because the English Queen wears one or because women think they are fetching we don’t know. At any rate, the last-minute hair styles created by French coiffeurs are all encouraging the fringe. Not the Hepburn fringe as we know it, but somewhat wispy bangs, usually rather tightly curled. For d*y wear, there are a few women who affect the page-boy coiffure, but short hair is more generally seen. Even those with long bobs have them curled up at night, even off the ears, for a more regal effect. ■ Halo hats are rarely seen in Paris. Most of the hats dip down over the right ear and reveal the curled hair in back. In the evening when women wear tiaras the smooth crown fashion is almost universally adopted, with the hair curled upwards at the back. Even and always the coiffure of distinction will be created for its wearer .and for her alone. There are no patterns and what rules there are made to be broken, if artistic improvement Warrants it. To have a smart hair style this season, you must have a “different” one, expertly executed.
