CONTEST FOR THE AMATEUR TITLE. HATTERSLEY IN BRILLIANT FORM. (Recd This Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 25. In the amateur golf championship third round. J. N. Reynard defeated McKay, one up: Ryan defeated J. C. Wilson, the Scottish international, f and 1: Hattersley defeated Gordon Peters, 4 and 2. Hattersley scored a crashing success, defeating the British Walker Cup player Peters and one of the most powerful West of Scotland players, who was strongly fancied for the championship. The match was all square at the turn. Then Hattersley. with a devastating run of 3. 3,4, 4. 2. 4, 4. took the match. Yates, the American Walker Cup player, defeated Pennink, the English champion. 3 and 2; Hector Thomson defeated Grant Govan, one up: Goodman defeated Briscoe, 6 and 5: the Cambridge Blue. Jocelyn Walker, defeated the American Walker Cup player, Reynold Smith, 2 up.
